In these challenging times, sponsored programs are more important than ever, generating additional resources for institutions, providing a means to attract and retain talented faculty, as well as to provide opportunities to engage students and contribute to their success. However, sponsored programs are not without risk. They are subject to regulatory scrutiny, and improper administration can cause disallowance of costs, loss of future awards, and negative publicity. In this presentation, we will cover some key areas that internal audit should consider when reviewing sponsored program post-award administration, to provide assurance of compliance with sponsor terms and conditions and institutional policies and procedures.
