NSPM 33 Compliance and Controls

January 25, 2024 12:00 PM CT

NSPM-33 brought large scale change to the way institutions need to think about foreign influence in research in order to maintain compliance and protect themselves and their faculty. In order to stay compliant and eligible for current and future federal awards, institutions will need to create new policies and trainings around disclosure, foreign travel, research security, and export control among other requirements. These new policies, trainings, and controls need to be designed to meet the risk outlined by the federal government. Our session covers the new standards, the recommended cyber security updates, and controls to maintain compliance with NSPM-33. We will work through control design to cover the risks outlined by the federal government, discuss leading practices for control owners, monitoring compliance, and audit areas of focus and follow up of new and developing controls to maintain reasonable assurance over compliance with emerging standards and risks.

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

1. Discuss the new standards required for NSPM-33 compliance.
2. Identify the importance of monitoring and oversight of the controls required for the new NSPM-33 standard.
