IT risks are inherent to all institutions and impact an institution’s ability to conduct operations in support of its mission. The ever-growing reliance on data supported by multi-faceted IT systems creates new and expanding risks. With the scale, scope and complexity of IT risks, institutions need a method to identify and prioritize risks, then catalog and evaluate the corresponding risk management activities.

How can an institution gain assurance that it is effectively addressing these IT risks to achieve its objectives and meet the needs of students, faculty, staff and other constituents? This presentation will address how institutions can assess IT risk to identify and prioritize potential risks and evaluate whether their IT risk management activities are effective.

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the current information technology landscape and key trends in higher education
  •  Identify key risk areas impacting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of institutional information/data and systems
  • Apply methods for conducting IT risk assessments and evaluating the effectiveness of IT risk management activities
