In addition to being unable to provide services to students, faculty, staff and other constituents, a ransom attack can expose a student’s personal data, can prompt legal challenges, and can damage an institution’s reputation. A mature and well-implemented security and controls program can help prevent many of the more common threats. With robust monitoring and control, higher education institutions can identify and repair vulnerable aspects of its environment to help prevent future attacks. Higher education institutions must also consider in what circumstances they would pay, or not pay, a ransom and then establish processes for decision making. After attending this webinar, participants will be able to: 1. Identify the most common ways in which malware is introduced into an environment and provide valuable recommendations to address key controls and processes. 2. Discuss why incident readiness and response capabilities should be incorporated into business continuity plans. 3. Assess information security programs effectiveness in preventing and responding to ransomware attacks. Presentation Slides Audio Recording Q&A Answers
