Speaker Biography:

Kara Kearney-Saylor, Director of Internal Audit at the University at Buffalo (UB), leads a strategic and comprehensive risk assessment and internal audit program that supports UB's mission, plans and goals. She serves as the University's point of contact for all external audit activities and works actively with SUNY's Audit and Enterprise Risk Management initiatives. Currently, she is implementing Enterprise Risk Management at UB and serves on UB's Information Security Privacy Advisory Committee. She has been an advocate for Information Security at UB, acting as the Interim Information Security Officer in 2018. In addition to her work at the UB, she serves as the Standards and Best Practices Committee Chair for AGUA. Kara also participates in her local chapter of the IIA, co-chairing the academic relations committee. Prior to UB, Kara was employed at Boston University (BU) as the Interim Director of Internal Audit. She was previously employed at Houghton Mifflin, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Ernst & Young in various audit and tax consultant roles. She has Bachelor's degree from Northeastern University; a Master's Degree from BU. She is a Certified Internal Auditor and has a Certification in Risk Management Assurance.
