Clery Act Fundamentals: Methods to Assist with Compliance and Increase Student Safety
May 12, 2022, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Eastern
Speakers: Jessica Johnson, Joe Holmes, Candace McLaren Lanham, and Kanna Hudson

The Clery Act requires colleges and universities to report campus crime data, support ‎victims of violence, and publicly outline the policies and procedures they have put into ‎place to improve campus safety. Noncompliance with the Clery Act can result in ‎decreased security for students and employees, hefty fines, loss of funding for ‎financial aid, reputational damage, and decreased enrollment. This course will describe ‎fundamental Clery Act compliance requirements defined in statute, regulation, and ‎related guidance. We will spend time considering key risks and potential controls within ‎Clery Act compliance programs, as well as techniques for providing assurance and ‎advisory services to improve Clery Act compliance. Lessons learned from a recently ‎completed Clery Act compliance assessment will also be shared. Participants will ‎apply what they learn in this session by developing an approach for assessing Clery ‎Act compliance.‎

After attending this two-hour webinar, participants will be able to: ‎

1. Recognize fundamental Clery Act compliance requirements
‎2. Describe risks, controls, and assurance and advisory techniques in support of Clery ‎Act compliance
‎3. Develop an approach for assessing Clery Act compliance
