Richard Cordova, CPA
University of Washington
Richard is the Executive Director of Internal Audit at the University of Washington (UW), the UW Ethics Advisor and representative to the Washington State Ethics Board. Richard has been with UW in this position since July 2009. Just prior to joining UW, Richard spent nearly a year as a Director of Internal Audit at Starbucks. The majority of his career was spent with PricewaterhouseCoopers, in total over 24 years of financial statement auditing, consulting and internal audit co-sourcing. The last seven years as a Director of Internal Audit Services in Seattle working at Starbucks and with other PwC clients in Seattle and the western US. During his tenure at PwC, Richard worked in the audit practices in Seattle, Washington, Rome, Italy, Washington D.C. and Newport Beach California offices. He also represented PW for 15 months with the Accountants Coalition which worked on the changes to CPA Form of Practice legislation.
Richard holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Notre Dame and a Master’s in Business Administration from UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business. Richard is a CPA in the States of Washington and California (inactive).
Richard currently serves on the ACUA Internal Audit Committee; this is his fourth term on the Committee, he also serves as an ad hoc member of the ACUA Board (responsibility of the Audit Committee regarding governance oversight). In addition, Richard has been a presenter at past ACUA conferences in Las Vegas, Indianapolis and Miami, worked with the ACUA midyear team as a sponsor for the 2013 Seattle Mid-Year Conference and has represented ACUA at the 2014 & 2015 NACUBO conferences.
