Paul Klein, CIA, CFE
Chief Audit Executive, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Years in Higher Education: 6

ACUA Involvement
ACUA Mentor – 4 years AuditCon Planning Committee – 2 years

“ACUA has played a meaningful role in my professional growth. The opportunity to network with colleagues who not only understand internal audit, but also share a focus on higher education, has been truly invaluable. I’ve connected with many thoughtful professionals, many of whom I now count as friends. The content shared through ACUA conferences and webinars is consistently outstanding. I often say a conference is worthwhile if I come away with one or two good ideas; with ACUA, I usually leave with six to eight ideas I’m excited to bring back and explore.”

Professional Background
Paul Klein has served as Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) Chief Audit Executive for over 6 years for the Office of Audit, Risk, and Compliance (OARC). OARC performs independent audits, conducts the university risk assessment process, and oversees the institutional compliance program. Prior to ERAU, Paul was a consultant working with dozens of higher education clients for over 15 years. For the last four years, Paul has had the pleasure of serving as an ACUA Mentor.  In discussing his mentor experiences, he said, “This has been a rewarding opportunity to connect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and support one another’s professional growth.”  In addition to mentoring, Paul has served for two years on the AuditCon planning committee, where he has been honored to work alongside a dedicated team committed to delivering high quality, engaging conferences
