Robert Berry, CPA, CIA, CCEP, CISA, CCS, MBA

Robert Berry has spent the better part of his career working to improve people, processes and profits. He loves to speak and write about risks, controls and compliance. After entering higher education in 2007, Robert knew he had found an industry that he could call home. He is currently the Executive Director of Internal Auditing at the University of South Alabama. Previously he has held various positions in internal auditing, risk management, accounting and compliance including (1) Director of Audit for a university, (2) Director of Sarbanes Oxley for a multi-billion financial institution, (3) Assistant Vice President of Internal Auditing for another multi-billion dollar financial institution, (4) a Consultant in Big 4 public accounting and (5) an Accountant and Internal Auditor for a Fortune 500 retail grocer.

Robert earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Auburn University in Montgomery and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of North Florida. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP). As an ACUA Board member, Robert hopes to serve in a capacity that advances internal auditing in higher education.
