James Ponce, CPA, CIA, CFE

Wake Forest University

James Ponce is the Associate Vice President for Internal Audit at Wake Forest University.  Before joining Wake Forest, he served as the Associate Chief Auditor for LSU. James has a Bachelor of Media Arts and a Masters of Accountancy from the University of South Carolina.  He started his career as a CPA with a national accounting firm and worked in internal audit capacities within the utility and healthcare industries before moving to higher education. 
 
James began volunteering with ACUA while at LSU and has led the Audit and Accounting Practices Committee for the past three years. He is the ACUA liaison to NACUBO, serving on their Accounting Principles Committee. Over time, James has experienced the positive impact of volunteering, serving as Treasurer for the Columbia City Ballet as well as the Bethesda Center for the Homeless. James has also been active at the local IIA chapter level, helping first with programs, moving into roles with more responsibility, and eventually serving as chapter president.
